“Underserved families in Bellevue? You’re kidding.”
I’ll admit that’s the first thing I thought when asked to join the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors. What I didn’t realize, is that area of Bellevue near Bellevue Square and The Bravern represents a small part of the city’s population.
There’s a much larger area made up of struggling families and underserved youth. In fact, more than 60% of the school age children receive assistance in the form of free or reduced lunches. The Bellevue Boys and Girls Club helps fill the gap for a number of children. More than 10,000 kids participate in programs provided and supported by the Club. That’s equal to more than half of the school age population in Bellevue.
Those facts led to me proudly join the board and also led me to make a personal pledge to the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club. Help me raise $200 in the next week through the sale of the Talk Sporty to Me Greeting Cards on KudosCommunity.com
